The match between Davos and Biel was in full swing on Saturday evening when striker Jérôme Bachofner, temporarily hired from ZSC, had an animated conversation with Robin Grossmann. Bachofner has the defender converted into a striker explain the routes of the Biel game system and the power play in detail.

On the morning of this matchday, the player from Zurich arrived in Biel and completed a warm-up with the team. What did he encounter? «A hungry team, despite the difficult situation with the many injuries. Those who can play do their best.” And himself? “I put all my energy on the ice.”

The fact that the 27-year-old can now play in the National League for the first time this season and immediately play in a new team made him a little nervous, “but in a positive way”. Because – even though Bachofner does not say so explicitly – the ambitious player is not satisfied with his current situation.

Relegation? “This is business”

He was only part of the ZSC Lions in a preparatory game at the beginning of August. He was then deported to the GCK Lions and has been playing in the Swiss League ever since. Bachofner scored two goals and nine assists in fifteen games. When asked about his situation, he simply says: “It’s a demotion, it’s business.”

His contract with ZSC runs until 2025. His loan to Biel is – for the time being – limited to four games. After the 2:3 defeat against HCD, there are three more games until Nati’s break. They should be a showcase for Bachofner, whose clear goal is to return to the National League quickly. ‘This is my chance. I know what I can do and I will do my best,” emphasizes the three-time Swiss champion (two titles with Zug, one with Zurich). It could be an option for the Zeelanders to keep him longer. And an upgrade in Zurich? That would probably be quite difficult.
