Karim Benzema sides with Hamas on social media and is criticized for this.

Karim Benzema (35) commented on the war between Hamas and Israel on X (formerly Twitter). The reigning world footballer clearly sides with the terrorist organization: “All our prayers for the residents of Gaza, who are once again victims of unjust bombings in which neither women nor children are spared,” he writes in his post.

Benzema has already received a lot of criticism from the football world for his statement. And the post also caused a stir in politics. French Minister of the Interior Gerald Darmanin (41) is now making serious accusations against the striker.

“Connections with the Muslim Brotherhood”

During a television program on the CNews channel, Darmanin said: “Mr. Karim Benzema, as we all know, has infamous connections with the Muslim Brotherhood.”

The Muslim Brotherhood is one of the most influential Islamist movements in the Middle East. It was founded in 1928, originally in opposition to British colonialism in Egypt. Hamas has long been considered its affiliate in the Palestinian territories.

Due to its radical thinking and great influence, the Muslim Brotherhood is classified as a terrorist organization and is banned in some countries, such as Saudi Arabia or the founding country of Egypt. The United States and Benzema’s home country France also classify them as terrorist organizations.

The government is keeping an eye on Benzema

According to Darmanin, Benzema has been “under observation for weeks” and his actions are being “followed with particular interest.” The French have the Muslim Brotherhood on their radar because, according to the Minister of the Interior, they ’cause jihadism’.

Valérie Boyer, senator for the Bouches-du-Rhône region, calls in an official statement for sanctions against the professional footballer – if Darmanin’s statements are correct. A symbolic measure would be to retroactively deny him the Ballon d’Or victory. But Boyer did not stop there and demanded that Benzema’s French citizenship be revoked. It is unacceptable that such a person ‘dishonours and even betrays his country in this way’.

Center-right politician Nadine Morano (59), another French politician, criticizes Benzema. «The most obvious is what he didn’t write. He had no pity for the children being beheaded in Israel’s territory, for these raped, disemboweled women. For these older people who were shot,” she also said on “CNews.”

Mail reaches millions

According to Morano, the footballer is “actually part of Hamas propaganda”. Benzema has around 20 million followers on

Karim Benzema comes from a family with Algerian roots and grew up in France. He often speaks publicly about his Muslim faith, and he also cited it as the reason for his move to Saudi Arabia last summer: “Well, I’m Muslim, and this is a Muslim country. I’ve always wanted to live here.” (bjl/dti)
