If the score is 1-1, the match between Belgium and Sweden will be stopped.

Deadly attack in Brussels: On Monday evening, a gunman shot two Swedish football fans while shouting “Allahu Akbar”. The crime scene was about three miles from the stadium. The football fans were probably on their way to the King Baudouin Stadium, where the European Championship qualifier between Belgium and Sweden took place.

The match initially started as scheduled at 8:45 p.m. But after halftime the game was canceled due to safety concerns. After 10pm there was official confirmation that the match would be cancelled. The fans in the stadium were informed with an announcement, but were not allowed to leave until security had given the green light. When, how and where the match should be rescheduled has not yet been discussed.

The police investigation is still ongoing. According to the Belgian news agency Belga, no arrests have been made yet.(sbe/dti/AFP)
