Horror scenario not unthinkable: this is how the Swiss national team gets the European Championship ticket

After the third draw in the seventh qualifying match, the horror scenario is no longer just a mirage. Switzerland needs points in the final sprint if it does not want to miss a major event for the first time since 2012.

The calculation for the European Championship ticket is complicated by the uncertainty about what will happen to Israel. Assuming that Israel will somehow be able to play all the matches, the national team needs two wins from the remaining three matches – then place 1 or 2 and direct qualification for the European Championship is a fact.

Qualification would also be possible through play-offs

If the national team gets less than six points, they are dependent on support. Should all results with Israeli participation fall through due to the war in the Middle East, the Nati will lose the three points from their victory in March.

In this case you only need one point from the remaining two matches against Kosovo and Romania for your European Championship ticket. This means: excluding Israel from European Championship qualifying would help Switzerland and make the road to the European Championship much easier.

If the national team does not reach one of the top two places, it can still reach the European Championship as third in the group via the play-offs.
