Partner is almost 20 years older: Ex-skier has become a mother for the first time

“Our little girl is here.” With these words, former ski racer Marusa Ferk Saioni (34) announced the birth of her first child on Instagram. “Now there are three of us.”

The Slovenian woman seems happy in the hospital bed with her newborn daughter and her French husband Christophe Saioni (54), also a former skier. Ferk Saioni, who celebrates her 35th birthday on Wednesday, and her partner have an age difference of almost 20 years.

Both were on the podium once

Ferk Saioni, who was known as an all-rounder at the World Cup, ended her career after the 2021/22 season. Before that, she completed more than 200 races and achieved her only podium finish at the Garmisch-Partenkirchen slalom in 2009.

Her husband also reached the podium once: in 1996 he came third in the giant slalom in Kvitfjell. His current wife was seven years old at the time. And now her family is growing; the child ‘goes into a lot of sports’, as she says. (ch)
