The 25-year-old from Bern successfully defended the yellow leader’s jersey he won on Saturday in the final stage over 177 kilometers from Mersch to the Luxembourg district of Limpertsberg.
Hirschi resists the attacks of his first pursuer Ben Healy and extends his small lead thanks to a time bonus in an intermediate sprint. Ultimately, he triumphed three seconds ahead of American Brandon McNulty, his teammate at UAE Emirates. Healy, who took the lead with a solo victory on Friday, had to settle for third place, five seconds behind.
For Hirschi it is the second victory in a stage race this year, after winning the Tour of Hungary in May. The Norwegian Tobias Johannessen took the day’s victory on the final stage, eight seconds ahead of the Spaniard Alex Aranburu and the Frenchman Franck Bonnamour. (SDA/mab)
