Ajax play Leid with Torfest against Excelsior
In the Eredivisie, Ajax was able to shake off the anger over the 4-2 defeat against Napoli in the Champions League. Coach Alfred Schreuder’s team was far too strong for Excelsior in Amsterdam: 7-1.
Thanks to the win, Ajax take the lead from AZ in the Eredivisie. The Alkmaar club lost 3-1 at home to Feyenoord. Because PSV also won their duel with FC Utrecht (6-1), the gap between the top four in the Eredivisie is only two points.
So far Brian Brobbey has had to be content with a reserve role at Ajax, but was preferred to Mohammed Kudus by Schreuder on Sunday night. The attacker didn’t betray the confidence of his coach by scoring two goals.

The Johan Cruijff Arena turned into a shooting gallery with one chance after another for Ajax on Sunday night, with the Rotterdammers having one chance.
Excelsior goalkeeper Stijn van Gassel was able to advertise himself with some nice saves, especially before half-time. Jorge Sánchez (rebound), Steven Berghuis (shot) and Brobbey (header) gave Ajax a 3-0 lead before the break.

In the second half, the national champion increased the score further. Brobbey made it 4-0 with a hard drive, after which Ajax made it 7-0 with a fumbling goal from Tadic, a nice curl from Bergwijn and a tap from Kudus.
Nikolas Agrafiotis scored the final score for Excelsior in the 90th minute.
