At Silverstone, Alfa-Sauber crashed to 9th in the World Championship. That was not planned – and certainly did not lead to a storm of cheers from the previous 25 percent shareholder and future engine partner Audi (from 2026).

Solutions are being sought. The dismissal of technical director Jan Monchaux (he will leave at the end of August) was the first reaction. When will the next follow?

The two drivers Valtteri Bottas (33) and Guanyu Zhou (24) have also been caught in the crossfire of criticism surrounding the C43 surprise bag. How motivated are you in this delicate situation? And how fast are they?

Bottas 14:9–Zhou 15:8

In the ten World Cup races to date, the Finn, who has already been on pole 20 times for Mercedes, has a modest average starting position of 14.9. With only 20 pilots, the Chinese have an even worse average: 15.8.

These figures clearly show it: Alfa-Sauber usually loses hope of points right at the start. The many incidents with the duo Hinwil show that the chance of a crash is greatest at these starting positions.

Pérez at an all-time low

For the least relevant comparison of starting positions, Red Bull-Honda from the last five races must be mentioned here. Verstappen 1-Perez 14.6. Well, the Mexican failed to qualify for the top ten final five times in a row in what was clearly the best car. Just like a year ago in Budapest, where the first training starts on Friday.

Pérez (99 points behind leader Verstappen) can already forget the World Cup dream of 2023. But he was the big star in a demo drive in front of 85,000 spectators on Saturday night in the streets of Madrid in a ten-year-old GP car.

How dangerous is Ricciardo?

Watch out for the penultimate Alfa-Sauber (9 points). Alpha Tauri-Honda (2 points) lets go of Nyck de Vries and wants to attack with Daniel Ricciardo (34).

Will the eight-time GP winner (2014 in Hungary and Belgium) manage to really attack Alfa-Sauber in the race? We shall see.
