Sina Frei showed a solid performance

Olympic silver medalist Sina Frei is the top Swiss woman at the World Cup in Leogang, Austria, placing sixth in the women’s cross-country competition.

Jolanda Neff also made it to the top ten with a tenth place. Alessandra Keller is not in full swing, last year’s overall winner had to settle for 18th place.

A class apart is Puck Pieterse, who already triumphed in Nove Mesto in the first World Cup race of the season. The Dutch beat the locals Mona Mitterwallner and Laura Stigger at 38 and 56 seconds respectively.

Frei, who missed the podium by 68 seconds, is ranked better than ever in the current World Cup season. The same goes for Neff, who finished no higher than 15th and 18th in the first two races. The 30-year-old from eastern Switzerland made up most of her 2:42 minute deficit in the first shortened and second round (total 1:50/29.), before turning the heat up a notch.

Keller is first in the first passage, but then loses time continuously. In the general classification, the 27-year-old from Nidwalden drops from 4th to 5th place. (SDA)
