The Legal Committee of the Council of States (RK-S) decided against the motion with a 9 to 3 vote, the parliamentary services announced on Tuesday. The proposal was submitted by the Economic Commission of the National Council (WAK-N). The National Council approved it in December by 101 votes to 84 and 7 abstentions.

The RK-S also rejected a second motion for a task force to enforce sanctions. SP State Councilor Carlo Sommaruga (GE) demands that the task force not only track down assets, but also block them and confiscate them if necessary. Subsequently, the Council of States decides on this.
