In addition, imported plant foods must be declared if they have been treated with pesticides that are considered particularly dangerous internationally.
The Federal Council thereby implements a motion of the Science Committee of the State Council. The declaration obligations are planned in three areas: First, for animal products such as frog legs, which are produced while the animals are in pain. Second, for foie gras from ducks and geese, and third, for plant-based foods from countries that use hazardous chemicals in crop production.
