Valérie Dittli has been Finance Director in Vaud since April 2022.

Less than a year into office, Vaud councilor Valérie Dittli (30, center) faces an accusation that hits her hard as finance director. Born in Zug, she lived and politicized in Lausanne for many years, but has not paid any taxes in the canton of Vaud to date.

Except during the Lausanne city council election campaign, she kept her residence in Oberägeri ZG, the place where she grew up. The French-language Swiss television RTS, which reported on the tax affair, accuses Dittli of fraud to save taxes.

Government presents test results

The Vaud government subsequently commissioned an external report. At the beginning of the month, Geneva tax specialist and lawyer Daniel Schafer was tasked with investigating whether Dittli was actually guilty of anything.

The results of the study are now available. In the Mint Hall of the Castle of Lausanne – the Mint Hall – the government presented the conclusion of the report.

Dittli defended himself

Dittli claims that he has always tried to do everything correctly. “We are talking about my life as a student, PhD candidate, intern, at an age when you are still looking for yourself, when everything is open,” she defended herself to RTS.

She had commissioned an expert opinion from a law professor from Lausanne. This relieved her. This afternoon it will become clear whether the research commissioned by the government will also provide Dittli with a clean health certificate. (lha)
