Will there be major job cuts at CS?

The CS earthquake caused a lot of uncertainty – and anger – among bank employees. On Blick TV, CS employees were shocked by the development. Because the end of the traditional bank will hit the employees hard: thousands of jobs will disappear. According to the Wall Street Journal, UBS could cut at least 9,000 jobs at CS.

The Swiss Bank Staff Association (SBPV) is concerned about the situation. “It is clear that many jobs are at stake and uncertainty about the future continues for thousands of employees,” says association president Michael von Felten (62) Blick. “Measures must be defined to preserve as many jobs as possible.”

The employees also receive support from the trade union federation. “A task force is now urgently needed to ensure that as many jobs as possible are preserved,” it says. “And who works out a good social plan for those who lose their jobs.”

Media conference at 10:15 am

But these are not the only measures demanded by the two associations. At 10.15 am, the representatives of the trade union federation and the bank employees’ union will present their other demands at a media conference. Not only those to the two banks involved, CS and UBS, but also to the responsible authorities such as the Bundesrat.

In addition to SBPV President von Felten, the media conference will also be attended by SBPV Director Natalia Ferrara, SGB President Pierre-Yves Maillard and SGB Chief Economist Daniel Lampart. Blick TV broadcasts the media conference live. (rus/oco)
