That’s daring! Parliament begrudges pensioners an extra five francs a month. The National Council did not want to know anything about a full contribution to the living expenses for the AHV on Wednesday. It would have been five to twelve francs a month. The Council of States followed on Thursday.
When it comes to one’s own interests, things suddenly seem very different. As Blick learned, the bureau of the Council of States decided on Monday with a clear majority on the parliamentary initiative “Reimbursement of the cost of living for the income and pensions of the members of the Council”.
The top of the National Council also wants more money
It should be something more than just a five francs.
On average, a member of the National Council now receives 132,500 francs per year. For a member of the Council of States that is 142,500 francs. With an inflation correction of 3.2 percent, the National Council would add another 4,240 francs, according to Adam Riese. The alderman can therefore be happy with an extra 4560 francs. And that for a part-time job.
Apparently, this idea was well received by the leadership of the National Council. Early Thursday morning, the National Council office also considered the application – and also clearly agreed to a grant for your own pocket. An accompanying bill now needs to be drafted and will be presented to parliament during the summer session.
For everyone instead of a few? Are you kidding me? Are you serious when you say that?
“Show aloofness and arrogance in this high house”
This is not well received by the SVP. “You can only shake your head,” said Volksraad member Walter Wobmann (65) of Solothurn when asked. “It’s all wrong for you to come up with such an idea right now.”
Finally, the centre-left in particular repeatedly points out that the purchasing power of the population has fallen sharply, partly due to high energy prices and global inflation.
“The fact that some people still want to collect more wages shows the aloofness and arrogance of certain people in this high house,” says Wobmann angrily. “Unfortunately, this is nothing new.” The SVP will almost certainly challenge this motion in the House of Representatives. “I sure do.”
