New National Supply Delegate

As announced by the state government, Häfliger is currently CEO of the cooperative “réservesuisse”. It provides services related to the import, storage and processing of food and feed, which fall under the National Supply Act.

As a player in the national economic offer, Häfliger is therefore familiar with the processes and procedures in this area, the Federal Council wrote in its statement.

Before taking up his current position, Häfliger was an advisor to the Swiss Mission to the EU in Brussels. In this role he was responsible for bilateral trade agreements with the EU. The educated farmer also held senior positions at the State Secretariat of Economic Affairs (Seco) and was an entrepreneur.

He worked as general manager at the bag manufacturer “Freitag” and at the Synthes Group, active in orthopedics.

Häfliger is therefore the right person at this important interface between the federal government and the private sector, said Federal Councilor Guy Parmelin at the presentation of the new deputy to the media in Bern on Friday.

The new delegate will also be given the task of completing the revision of the Government Supply Act (LVG). In March, the Bundesrat decided to re-announce the position of Delegate for National Economic Supply.

The state government also decided to increase the employment level of the deputies to 100 percent by the time the LVG review is completed in 2026. Until then, the position is temporary.

The National Economic Supply is a militia organization with about 250 experts from the private sector, administrative branches and the Federal Bureau of National Economic Supply as a staff unit.

Kurt Rohrbach is the former boss of the Bernese energy and infrastructure group BKW. He was appointed Interim Delegate for National Economic Supply by the Federal Council in October. A search committee searched for Rohrbach’s successor. Fifty applications were received from all language areas of Switzerland.
