The state of emergency of the University Hospital Basel (USB) is reaching the limit. Flu and coronavirus are circulating, the emergency entrance is filling up with patients. If you only have mild symptoms, you will have to wait a long time.
As the USB reports, available capacities on the emergency are currently doubling. Most other aid stations in the region are also overloaded.
You should think twice before visiting
There are several reasons for the high load on the hospital, a USB spokesperson said when asked by the Keystone-SDA news agency. The hospital currently needs three wards each for Covid 19 patients, flu and RS virus patients. The time of year and the icy weather also play a role. The snowfall leads to more waterfalls.
The USB therefore asks all people who are ill or have had an accident to consider whether they can also go to the doctor or pharmacy.

The hospital does not turn away emergency patients, but waiting times can be significantly longer for less serious illnesses, the hospital said in a statement.
