Car crash after event: Erdogan’s security personnel are fatally injured

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s security personnel were killed in an accident after an election campaign.

A police officer was killed in the accident in the southeastern province of Sirnak, state broadcaster TRT reported on Wednesday.

The Turkish head of state visibly expressed his condolences to the police officers as he gave a speech a short time later in the city of Mardin – about 120 kilometers from the scene of the accident.

It was initially unknown whether Erdogan was traveling in a convoy with the vehicle involved in the accident.

According to TRT, three people were also injured in the accident, including two police officers. There was no attack.

According to the DHA news agency, the security personnel’s vehicle collided with a caravan with a Duisburg license plate. Initially, nothing was known about the driver’s condition. (SDA)
