After voting yes at the ballot box for a 13th AHV pension, the umbrella organization of disability organizations is now also calling for a pension for IV pensioners. About half of them receive additional benefits because their existence cannot be assured with the disability pension alone, Inclusion Handicap said in a statement on Tuesday.
The rising cost of living would hit IV retirees particularly hard. The first pillar currently includes old-age and survivor benefits, as well as benefits from disability insurance and supplementary benefits. The approaches to old-age pensions and disability pensions are therefore identical.
Far from securing a livelihood
Pensions are intended to secure one’s existence, but this is far from the case with disability pensions. It is therefore logical that all benefits in the first pillar are increased, wrote Incusion Handicap.
This means that in addition to the old age pension, the disability pension would also have to be paid out thirteen times. Inclusion Handicap calls on the Federal Council and Parliament to take this into account when implementing the initiative for a 13th AHV pension. (SDA)
