In 2022, current Roche president Severin Schwan funded 44 retirees with his AHV contribution as then CEO of the pharmaceutical company.

Open contribution scale, capped pensions: the AHV is an enormous redistribution machine. The Federal Social Insurance Agency estimates that 8 percent of premium payers pay more than they will one day receive as retirees; 92 percent pay less.

Roughly speaking, net payers are those with an income subject to the AHV of 100,000 francs or more. But high earners, such as the bosses of top companies, each pay hundreds of thousands of francs to the AHV. Money that you as a retiree will only see a fraction of.

Roche is the leader

And so it happened that individual CEOs such as Björn Rosengren of ABB or David Endicott of Alcon each paid 38 average AHV pensions with their AHV contributions in 2022, followed by Mark Schneider (Nestlé, 37 pensions), Mario Greco (Zürich, 36) and David Layton (Partners Group, 35).
