The Federal Council appointed Christa Hostettler during its meeting on Wednesday. She succeeds Peter Füglistaler, who will retire at the end of July.
Hostettler studied law at the universities of Geneva and Bern. Later she worked, among other things, as chief lawyer for the city of Bern and as general secretary of the Conference of Directors of Public Transport. In her current position at Postauto AG she heads the market and customer department.
With Christa Hostettler, the Federal Council has appointed an “excellently qualified and high-profile personality”, the statement said. She brings extensive experience and a broad network and is familiar with the political processes. Her future tasks at the Federal Office for Transport (BAV) include the further development of public transport and freight transport in Switzerland. (SDA)
