Real-world data (RWD), such as data from structured electronic health records containing information on cancer types, molecular profiles, treatments and outcomes, can provide important points for treatment decisions, according to a Roche press release.

However, according to the information, this data is rarely available in a scaled and structured form, meaning its potential is not being exploited. The goal of the project is to find out how to process RWD in a way that ultimately improves patient care.

The public-private partnership between USZ, UZH and Roche is called the Precision Oncology Program (POP) and will be jointly developed and financed by the parties, according to the announcement.
