“Tischlein deck dich” has collected 1,500 tons more than last year, the organization announced on Wednesday. She also increased the number of delivery points by 8 to 157, built a new logistics warehouse and expanded the workforce to 4,200 volunteers.

The number of people supported, including families, single parents, the working poor and retirees, was also increased by about 310,000 to 1.8 million people. This growth was made possible by good cooperation with the food industry, politics, science, donors and helpers.

The problem of food waste is an increasingly important issue in the food industry and this is now also recognized by politicians. Food waste in Switzerland can only be further reduced through even better cooperation between farmers and retailers with the relevant federal offices and cantonal pharmacies.

“Tischlein deck dich” claims to be the first food waste organization in Switzerland and is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year. But there is still a lot of rescue potential. That is why the organization plans to open ten more collection points this year.
