The big pension match will take place on March 3. The voters will then decide on two AHV initiatives. In addition to that of the Young Liberals for a gradually higher retirement age, there is also the initiative of the trade unions for a 13th AHV pension.
The voting campaign has not really started yet. But the two camps are already making things difficult for each other.
“Not exactly the nice way”
The website of the civilian No Committee is causing problems. There, supporters can write their own statement against the 13th AHV pension and state their party membership – and the corresponding party logo will appear. Even those from the left camp who actually support the initiative.
The Greens don’t like that at all. “The unauthorized use of the party logo is not exactly a good thing,” says party spokeswoman Fabienne Engler (29). This creates the illusion that the Greens are taking an official position against a 13th AHV pension. “This is an attempt to deceive voters, highly questionable in terms of democratic policy and, in our opinion, a dishonest campaign.”
The Greens are also against the 13th AHV pension
The countercommittee is not impressed by this. “Apparently the Green Party headquarters don’t like that its members can publicly say no,” said campaign manager Josef Marty. The latest survey from October showed that 19 percent of the Greens base were also against a 13th AHV pension. Green voters would therefore also be given the opportunity to make their own statement on the website.
However, not for long. After Green Party Secretary General Rahel Estermann (37) discovered her own party logo on the opposing camp’s website during the holidays ‘with great surprise’ and intervened, the No Committee removed it ‘to avoid misunderstandings’ .
Opponents are clearly nervous
The logo has disappeared, but when writing a statement, Greens – unlike SP members – can still mention their party membership on the website. Their party membership cannot even be selected.
“The No committee knows very well that the Greens are part of the initiative committee for a 13th AHV pension and are actively campaigning in the Yes camp,” says Green Party spokeswoman Engler, still irritated about the use of the party logo . Its use would hardly have been allowed if the committee had asked for it.
The Greens mock the fact that the opponents are clearly nervous. The first studies show that there is a lot of support for the initiative. The voting campaign hasn’t even really started yet.
