The Alliance Swiss Pass takes the position that there are sufficient alternatives for people with visual impairment to purchase a public transport ticket, the Swiss Association of the Blind and Visually Impaired (SBV) wrote in a press release on Wednesday. In addition to electronic solutions, there are also options to purchase free tickets by telephone.
However, older customers would be neglected, the SBV said. A third of people with a visual impairment are over 80 years old and therefore have difficulty using a smartphone.
It also said that those who receive additional services often cannot afford an expensive subscription. In many regions there are still no discounted public transport subscriptions for IV recipients.
The SBV is the national self-help organization in the field of visual impairments. The association supports blind and partially sighted people in their efforts to lead an independent and successful life in work and society. (SDA)
