Buchrain voters rejected the introduction of inheritance taxes at the ballot box on Sunday.

Voter turnout in the elections was 38.63 percent.

The city council estimated the additional annual tax potential at 50,000 francs. The intention would have been that inheritances worth more than 100,000 francs would have to be taxed. The tax should have been one percent of the inheritance, inheritance or gift.

In the Canton of Lucerne, inheritance tax is the responsibility of the municipalities. Of the 82 municipalities, 40 municipalities levy a tax. Including the city of Lucerne, Meggen, Malters and Schwarzenberg.

Voters also approved the 2024 budget by 806 votes to 738. This ended with a loss of 1.28 million francs. The release of the revaluation reserves was approved by 1030 votes to 461. (SDA)
