1,795 voters voted yes at the ballot box, 546 rejected the counter-proposal. That corresponds to a three-quarters majority. Voter turnout in the elections was 46.8 percent, the community announced on Sunday.
The counterproposal provides for the sale of the outdoor swimming pool to Brügger HTB GmbH. The timber, transport and construction company is contractually obliged to renovate the swimming pool. The outdated bathroom urgently needs to be renovated, otherwise it will be closed.
The liberal Frutigen initiative was narrowly rejected. 1,125 voted no, 1,008 voted yes. The Badi Initiative demanded that a renovation project worth approximately two million francs be presented to the people. The council had claimed that the community could not afford the renovation without raising taxes.
Voters said yes to two other proposals. On the one hand, with a 60 percent yes share, they approved a loan of 2.3 million francs for the energy-efficient renovation and expansion of the community center.
On the other hand, with 58 percent of the votes, they gave the green light to the renovation of the ruins of Tellenburg, whose masonry is becoming increasingly unstable. After deducting the subsidies, the municipality is left with net costs of between 600,000 and 800,000 francs. (SDA)
