The Winterthur SVP President Mariawegelin stood as a candidate for the National Council.

The SVP Winterthur decided on Tuesday evening in the “Rössli” in Winterthur about further cooperation with its chairman Mariawegelin (44). The local SVP president has recently come under enormous pressure.

The 44-year-old announced her resignation at the extraordinary general meeting. She will be replaced by Marco Graf (40) until the ordinary general meeting.

Election worker convicted of racial discrimination

Wegenin, who was running for the National Council, outsourced media work for the campaign to two Junge Tat leaders. The two members of the militant group produced their election videos and managed some of their social media accounts, as the SonntagsBlick revealed.

Explosive: The two election workers were once convicted of racial discrimination and arrested several times. Further criminal proceedings against her are still ongoing.

The Winterthur Owners’ Association (HEV) withdrew its support for Wegelin and immediately called on it to distance itself from the “Junge Tat”.

Has not distanced itself from “Young Tat”

However, she did not do this. She emphasized in a video that she didn’t want to let anyone dictate who she worked with. In interviews, Wegelin said she had never heard of the group “Junge Tat” at the time she got the contract. She loved the two young men and had things in common. In this context, she mentioned the corona pandemic and the measures taken by the federal government against it.

The SonntagsBlick investigation had consequences. Public pressure on Wegelin eventually became so great that she left office until the extraordinary general meeting. She decided this in consultation with the party board, as she announced at the beginning of October. (oko)
