The flight takes place at the request of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (EDA), the website states. The FDFA also announced that Switzerland is not conducting organized departures from Israel. However, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs clarifies whether Swiss citizens can benefit from any departures organized by partner states.

The questions came from people currently on the ground, from concerned family members and from people planning a trip to Israel in the near future.
According to the EDA, approximately 28,000 officially registered Swiss live in Israel and the Palestinian territories.
