From 2026, EO applications must be able to be submitted digitally.

In the future, the service organizations would transmit the days worked in an automated process in a digital, standardized manner to the responsible central compensation agency of the 1st pillar, according to the communication from the Federal Social Insurance Service (BSV). The Federal Council adopted corresponding legislative changes on Friday.

First, the person providing the service must enter their personal information into the system and release the application for EO benefits online. The responsible AHV compensation fund then collects the employer’s salary data, the BSV writes.

“This digitized process replaces the current process with paper forms, which is time-consuming and prone to disruptions,” the report continues. The system is expected to be put into use in 2026. (SDA)
