One report mentioned cases of satanic panic in Littenheid psychiatry. investigated – now there are consequences.

At the Littenheid psychiatric hospital in the canton of Thurgau, an expert report found evidence of conspiracy stories in more than half of the 422 medical records examined. According to the canton of Thurgau, 43 cases are serious cases.

The external, independent report was commissioned by the private clinic. The patient files of patients with dissociative identity disorder were checked, the canton wrote in its statement on Friday.

At the end of 2021, the media – including Blick.ch – reported that satanic conspiracy theories had played a role in the treatment of patients at the clinic. The conspiracy is also known as the satanic panic. Patients become convinced that they have fallen victim to ritual abuse. So Satanists slaughtered babies and children and then drank their blood.

Doctor was deprived of his profession

Following reports of Satanic Panic, the Canton of Thurgau launched an administrative investigation in the spring of 2022. Surveillance measures were eventually ordered based on the findings. A doctor’s license to practice was revoked, a disciplinary reprimand and several fines were imposed, a statement from the canton said at the time. Criminal charges have also been filed. The suspect is said to be senior physician Matthias Kollmann of the Littenheid clinic. In an SRF documentary, Kollmann said he firmly believes that ritual murders in Switzerland are committed in the name of the devil.

According to a report from Friday July 2023, the Thurgau Office of Health checked the status of the implementation of the measures ordered at the time. Efforts on the part of the clinic proved to draw personnel and conceptual consequences from the grievances. “The effectiveness of these and planned measures cannot yet be definitively assessed, as they can only be measured after a certain period of time.”

Investigations have not yet been completed

The Health Office continues to support the clinic’s control and quality assurance measures. The results would be recorded in a final report, which would be published after an inspection in the second half of 2024 or in 2025.

The clinic in Littenheid wrote in a statement on Friday that a new therapy concept will allow patients with a dissociative identity disorder to be admitted to the two trauma therapy departments from January 2024.

“We have made great efforts in recent months to fully process the events and draw the right conclusions.” Every effort is made to offer people seeking help the best possible evidence-based therapy. (SDA)
