The federal government had authorized authorities in Vaud last week to shoot two wolf pups. The canton of Vaud announced on Tuesday that the scheme was carried out in accordance with the conditions of the Federal Office of the Environment.

Last spring, a pair of wolves settled on Mont Tendre. Since then there have been about a dozen attacks on young stock. In addition, the wild hat discovered that the couple had had offspring.

Under current regulations, a herd may be regulated if, among other things, at least one cow has been killed within four months and the relevant herd has reproduced successfully within a year.
