Of the more than 8,200 who started the 18-week basic training, 246 are women, according to the defense group of the Federal Ministry of Defence, Civil Protection and Sports (DDPS).

Among the cadres are 180 women. Along with the recruits, 426 women fight in the RS. 1619 members of the army serve as long-term servants.

The training focuses the military at all levels more on defending against armed attacks. The scenarios include hybrid conflicts as in current wars worldwide. In order to transfer the army as a whole to the service women and men, those responsible are again increasingly carrying out joint maneuvers between different army branches.

A wide range of services await those who move in when they need help. The first points of contact are the commanders, doctors of the units and chaplains, the defense group says.

The army chaplaincy, the army social service and the specialized office for women in the army and diversity can also be reached by telephone. For issues that cannot be clarified with the Army’s internal facilities, an independent trustee is available – including by telephone. (SDA)
