The Ministry of Culture and Sports convened the next edition Prize for Spanish literature Miguel de Cervantes as a sign of official recognition of literary creativity in the Spanish language, as published by the Official State Gazette (BOE) that coincides with the celebration Awards ceremony of the last edition Venezuelan poet Raul Cadenas.

The award, created in 1975, has been awarded 125,000 euros and may not be divided, declared void or awarded posthumously, without affecting the succession rights that may be exercised if the awardee dies after the jury’s decision, in accordance with the grounds.

The award confirms “the public testimony of admiration for the character of the writer, regardless of nationality, who contributed to the enrichment of the Hispanic literary legacy with his work.” The title will not be awarded for a specific work, but for the entire literary work from the author.

Cadenas will also be this Tuesday at the traditional lunch offered by Kings Felipe and Letizia at the Royal Palace in Madrid, in addition to leaving his legacy on the same day at the Caja de las Letras Instituto Cervantes.
