On March 3, 1962, citizens of Chame town in the town hall and inform the authorities about the concern that a fire station will be built in the city. The first building was built on the land he gave part of the municipality of Chame that is located next to the Catholic Church of San José where the wooden construction was started by the efforts of the people themselves. Later, after the completion of the construction, interviews were held with the responsible person of the Panamanian firefighters. They waited for Colonel Cristian Angeytter’s response and acquired a white convertible fire truck which they nicknamed the coat of arms. This vehicle covered the entire Chame district and other districts in charge of the station. It was assigned to Mr. Marcos Rodríguez with the rank of major.
The latter was a native of the province Veraguas right from the district of Santiago. He won the favor of the people and founded one of the best musical ensembles in the Panama Oeste area.
After that, Major Marcos Rodríguez negotiates with the firefighters of the United States where he receives a donation of building materials to start the construction of a new fire station where it exists today in The Pan-American highway in front of the municipality of Čame. The construction of the building began with the work of volunteers, who donated their time and experience in the barracks, in order to make the dream of a fire station come true.
Little by little, the construction lasted until what it is today. After the barracks is officially opened, volunteer firefighters move next to the Church of San José to receive instructions on how to put out fires in the old barracks. These handled all types of emergencies with one vehicle. Later, Mr. Manuel Santana was in charge of the Chame Fire Station, with the rank of Major assigned by firefighters from Panama, led by Major Marcos A. Rodríguez moved to his homeland Santiago.
Major Manuel Santana drives and buys a Ford vehicle that he donated Panamanian firefighters. In later years, he exercises his right to a pension and assumes responsibility for the La Chorrera fire station. People from the Chamero people meet and form a committee among themselves. It consisted of Mr. Italo Manchia, Mrs. Italia Manchia and Mr. Tile Lasso. They met with the leaders La Chorrera firefighters at the timeor, to make it official to be named Mayor Marcos A.
