Ikea was among the first companies to cease operations in Russia after the outbreak of war in Ukraine. In addition, production was stopped in Russia and Belarus, and the export and import of Ikea products to and from these two countries were stopped.
As a result, not only sales were lost: Ikea was left with goods already produced for the Russian market.

“After reviewing the various options, we’ve decided to offer products at a discount in the second chance market,” Ikea spokesperson Stefanie Brehm told Blick. In addition to used goods and exhibits, some new items can also be found here.
Apart from Switzerland, Germany and the UK, different countries are also participating. Products written in Russian have recently gone on sale in Switzerland. Each branch could buy Russian goods separately and sell them at a discounted price. However, it is also possible that not all Ikea branches carry cheap Russian products – as Brehm explains, this is the case at Rothenburg LU, for example. Quantities and selection of these products vary by furniture store.
The sale will take place one after another. Large furniture is not among them. “The items are mostly different household items, such as kitchen utensils, napkins, felt-tip pens, and stools,” says Brehm.
Still: There are some bargains for Ikea visitors. For example, the price of a 16-piece Mopsig cutlery is normally 8.95 francs. The Russian version can now be found at Ikea Dietlikon ZH for CHF 3.95. “On average, the discount on such products in the second chance area is around 43 percent,” Brehm said.
