The richest people in Switzerland are mostly male, white and old. The annual list of the richest in the “Bilanz” undoubtedly demonstrates this. But: There are super rich teens too! Also, the “balance sheet” publishes a separate list of the 100 richest people under the age of 40.

The ranking appears for the ninth time this week. It is divided into three categories: heirs, entrepreneurs and stars. Men also dominate the junior list of the richest. There are 3 women and 7 men in the top 10.

Heirs dominate the top 10

Two of the top ten are a real power couple: Lorenz Frey (32) with an estimated wealth of CHF 1 to 1.5 billion, and Michèle Frey-Hilti (36), with an estimated wealth of CHF 1 to 1.15 billion. He is the director of the Emil Frey Group and one of the three heirs of boss Walter Frey (80), car salesman and President of ZSC. He is the grandson and heir of Hilti founder Martin Hilti († 82), sits on the board of the tool company and chairs the Hilti Family Foundation.

In other respects, heirs dominate the top 10 in the under 40 ranking. Other categories also include names from sports, business or culture: including pop singer Beatrice Egli (34), who has an estimated net worth of between 2 and 5 million.

Among the prominent women on the list are tennis player Belinda Bencic (26) between 5 and 10 million, and Léa Miggiano (28), the founder of Carvolution, between 5 and 10 million.

Athletes on the podium

There are a striking number of athletes in the star category – they often make fortunes at a young age. The list includes national football player Xherdan Shaqiri (31) with an estimated CHF 20 to 50 million. Nati goalkeeper Yann Sommer is also making his debut with an estimated 20 to 50 million. “Balance Sheet” estimates that tennis star Stan Wawrinka (38) has equally high wealth.

Max-Hervé George, 34, CEO of listed luxury real estate firm Ultima Capital, dominates the entrepreneurial category. The balance sheet estimates his fortune to be between 450 and 500 million. Compared to the others, it has already made it to the list of 300 richest Swiss people.

13 year old accountant

At 16, Richard Schäli is the youngest on the list. Her grandfather and father are entrepreneurs, both work in the financial sector, her father is currently the chief investor of the Partners Group. Richard Schäli started at age 13 as a financial adviser to the super-rich close to family. His balance sheet estimates his fortune to be between 2 and 5 million.

Richard Schäli is so young that he has not finished school yet. He wants to study at an elite US university soon, as he explains to the balance sheet: “I need to refocus on school so that the balance is not disturbed.”
