A shortage of staff has been heard from Swiss hospitals everywhere for a long time: With permanent HFR Tafers, the situation has now worsened: the hospital is temporarily limiting its opening hours. The reason cited by Freiburg Hospital (HFR) is the lack of skilled workers.

As noted in a statement released Tuesday, there is currently a shortage of senior doctors at Tafers, in part due to retirement. Persistence will therefore be open from 8am to 5pm from 1 May, not until 10pm as before. It will be closed on weekends and public holidays.

The situation will be reassessed in mid-September

HFR Tafers is one of four hospitals in the group. HFR emphasizes that it is “absolutely most important” that Sensler Permanence remains open to provide high-quality, safe and local care for the population.

The situation will be reassessed in mid-September. Until then, HFR will continue to seek personnel. The closure of some hospitals is also said to open up new opportunities for recruitment.

Sense District’s on-call health service remains operational 24 hours a day for non-life-threatening emergencies. (smt)
