As a result, health expenditures increased by CHF 4.8 billion, as the Federal Statistics Office announced on Tuesday. This item constituted 11.8 percent of the gross domestic product (GDP), which was 11.7 percent in the previous year.

State-provided healthcare was the fastest growing, with 74.6 percent and 1.8 billion Swiss Francs. This is due to the high spending associated with Covid-19.

Hospital expenditures increased by 4.4 percent and medical practices increased by 2.6 percent. There have also been increases in dentistry and other outpatient services. The costs of socio-medical institutions fell.

Health expenditure per person and month was 827 CHF. 296 Swiss francs were covered by compulsory health insurance companies, 190 by state, 74 by social services, 54 by private insurance and 184 by households. (SDA)
