Malls have two tough years behind them. The corona pandemic and its consequences have really affected them. And customers need it even more to order their goods online and have it delivered to their home.
They cannot give up their beloved habits so quickly. For mall operators, this means they urgently need to find something. Even Tivoli in Spreitbach AG, the oldest center in Switzerland, is no exception.
18 million Swiss franc investment
Operators now want to make a massive investment of CHF 18 million to attract customers back to the stores and use the free space. On an area of 12.000 square meters. That’s what the “Aargauer-Zeitung” says. The goal is to create an amusement park that has it all.
The centerpiece is a go-kart track that covers 3,800 square feet. A large virtual reality space is also planned. For example, laser tag halls where teams “shoot” each other with laser pointers in the dark. Or a hyper bowling facility.
“Meets a great need”
Center manager Patrick Stäuble (53) – boss for eleven years – sought his new concept across the border. «From the largest shopping centers abroad, you can see the trend of meeting a great need for shopping, services, as well as leisure activities under one roof. That’s why we examine various indoor leisure activities in a wider area,” says the “Aargauer-Zeitung”.
