A debate ensued as to whether and why the price watcher was prevented from publishing a report on alleged inflating organic product prices. According to “insiders”, Migros is behind it. “Due to legal disclosures”, the relevant page in Wednesday’s price watch bulletin remained blank.
Price advisor expresses regret
Price watcher Stefan Meierhans, on Friday evening’s “10vor10” program on Swiss German television SRF, said he regretted it. However, for legal reasons, he is unable to comment further on this at this time. According to “insiders”, Migros put pressure on the price watcher, as reported on “10vor10” on Friday evening.
The price watcher’s report contains “highly explosive information that probably shouldn’t have been made public,” Sara Stalder, director of the Consumer Protection Foundation (SKS) told “10vor10”.
Stefan Flückiger, Managing Director of Swiss Animal Protection (STS), suspects “power struggles in the background”; someone wants to block transparency, he told – also to “10vor10”. There was no explanation that Keystone-SDA news agency initially requested from the price watcher or Migros. (SDA/cut)
