Elon Musk (51) is seeking a successor as Twitter CEO. The name of a Swiss person is in the foreground as it says “Le Temps”. David Marcus (49) could be the next Twitter boss.
The Geneva native has known Musk since his time at Paypal. The company was founded by Musk, among others. David was president of the payment processor from 2012 to 2014. Musk and Marcus have known each other for years.
After that, Marcus worked at Facebook. There he should develop the internet currency Libra. But the project fell through. In May of this year, he founded his own company, Lightspark. The company specializes in crypto, especially Bitcoin.
Musk must go
Reason for boss change: Twitter users no longer want Musk as boss. In a poll conducted earlier this week, 57.5 percent voted in favor of her leaving. A total of more than 17.5 million Twitter users took part in the survey.
Even as the poll continued, there was speculation that Jared Kushner (41) could be the next CEO. He is the son-in-law of former US President Donald Trump (76). Kushner and Musk watched the World Cup final in Qatar as the polls continued.
Twitter co-founder could take over
But other names are also circulating. Twitter co-founder Jack Dorsey (46) is mentioned. He supported Musk’s takeover. “The unique solution I trust is Musk,” Dorsey said in April.
Sheryl Sandberg (53) is also being traded in as a potential successor. She is the former CEO of Facebook and has been with the company for 14 years. Sandberg is often referred to as Facebook’s “adult in the room”.
US magazine “Fortune” mentions Sriram Krishnan (37) as the new CEO of Twitter. He’s already working with Musk to reshape Twitter. Krishnan has also led various product teams at both Twitter, Microsoft and Facebook.
After the poll ended, Musk said he would soon be stepping down as CEO. As soon as he finds someone “unreasonable enough” (“stupid enough”) to take the job. Now it remains to be seen who will take Twitter back to its former glory.
