Twitter takes new initiative for paid subscription

With this, users are prompted to check for verification of their user account with a white check mark in a blue circle. A tick that indicates a user account has been verified by Twitter was previously free and given to politicians, celebrities, journalists and organizations. In the future, a paid subscription will be a prerequisite for the coveted verification mark on a user account.

Twitter Blue is said to be significantly more expensive for iPhone users: «We’re relaunching @TwitterBlue on Monday – subscribe for $8 per month on the web or $11 per month on (Apple’s) iOS and exclusives including Access the features: a blue Checkmark,” the company tweeted.

New owner and billionaire Elon Musk, who bought Twitter in October, says the company wants to expand its revenue streams beyond advertising and develop new paid offerings.

New version, new features

The paid subscription version of Twitter Blue, launched in November, was quickly shut down due to the emergence of many fake accounts using users pretending to be celebrities or businesses.

The company said that with the new version, accounts that call ticks will continue to be controlled by Twitter. Additionally, subscribers should enjoy other benefits such as significantly fewer ads, the ability to edit tweets after they’re posted, and the option to download videos in better quality.

At the beginning of November, Musk announced that the previous system for assigning verification marks was “nonsense” and made the relaunch of Twitter Blue a priority. However, this has been delayed several times.

Musk took over Twitter for $44 billion at the end of October and immediately fired the top floor. A week later, it fired about half of its 7,500 employees. Musk’s restructuring of Twitter is extremely chaotic. (SDA)
