Credit card problem at Basler Kantonalbank

Monika B.* was glad that she had checked the reservations in her account once: On Tuesday morning, the reader reporter learned that Basler Kantonalbank (BKB) had double-charged several purchases, as she told Blick. For example, Monika B. made a purchase at a Coop gas station on October 30, and on November 1, BKB processed two transactions at CHF 27.60 each. for the same purchase at the same time. This is illustrated by screenshots available to Blick.

“That’s cheeky,” Monika B. tells Blick. She immediately asks BKB what the overbookings are about. His case is no exception, it was said there that the bank had problems with the system.

“Due to a technical error with a Swiss buyer, payments with Visa Debit and Visa credit cards were charged twice,” says a Blick spokesperson. An acquirer is a financial institution that processes credit or debit card payments for the business.

Affected for several days

According to BKB, transactions made on 31 October are affected. Accordingly, since the invoice date of the transaction on the one hand and the submission date of the acquirer on the other hand are relevant, the transaction date may also be a few days earlier.

Few things came together with Monika B.’s various reservations. Therefore, the fact that the money was not sent back to him immediately after contacting customer service infuriates him even more. “Wrong charges will be corrected as soon as possible,” BKB told Blick.
