Some ski areas would like to open this weekend. But the amount of snow is not yet sufficient for adequate slope preparation everywhere – for example, in Ebnat-Kappel SG, this is indicated in the tape on the location of the slopes.
“While assessing the general situation, we came to the decision not to open Pizol this weekend,” explains Jürg Schutereit (53), marketing manager at Pizolbahnen AG. However, if the snowfall continues, the season may start earlier than the planned December 9.
The fact that the forecasts for the beginning of winter on December 1 are not very encouraging from a meteorological point of view makes the late start of the season bearable: The weather will be cloudy and heavy snowfall throughout Switzerland. According to Meteo News, 50 to 75 centimeters of fresh snow will fall in the mountains on Saturday morning, with more locally available.
All in all: beautiful winter sports weather on Sunday – icy cold and sunny!
