Valais construction company EGT Construction in St-Maurice VS, with a history of almost 100 years, will cease operations at the end of the month. Approximately 30 employees lose their jobs.
SCIV union lawyer Rita Théoduloz told the Keystone-SDA news agency this week that all wages had been paid by the end of September. The company, which provides services in the fields of civil engineering, building construction, concrete and masonry works, did not continue its activities after October.
background is unclear
Management did not initially respond to the request from Keystone-SDA. Two unions, SCIV and Unia, were tasked with supporting workers. There is no information yet about the reasons for the company’s closure.
Founded in 1936, the company was initially headquartered in Lausanne. Branches were opened in Geneva and St-Maurice. In 1954 the center was moved to St-Maurice. (SDA/sfa)
