Will you go to the sea again in autumn? To the local mountains to enjoy the great hiking weather? Or maybe to sunny Ticino? Thousands of Swiss people are asking themselves these questions these days. And they leave their mark with the search queries they make on the internet.
The E-Domizil brokerage platform evaluated 200,000 such queries. According to the analysis, Grindelwald BE was the most sought-after travel destination in September and October in the 2023 autumn season. The gateway to the Jungfrau region is located in front of the Pontresina GR on the Bernina Pass. And ahead of the Ticino trio of Locarno, Ascona and Lugano – after all, it’s the Sonnenstube!
Scuol in summer
However, when it comes to length of stay, Puschlav comes out on top. Guests stay here for an average of 9.4 days. For comparison: in Grindelwald this period is only 5.7 days. The authors of the study attribute this primarily to the international guest structure at Grindelwald. The international focus also appears to have an impact on average nightly rental prices. Lucerne, Interlaken BE and St. Holiday flats and houses in St. Moritz GR are most expensive in autumn.
The rankings looked different in the summer. Scuol GR topped the rankings. Ahead of Lugano TI (2nd place) and Gambarogno TI (3rd place). As well as two other residents of Ticino (Ascona and Locarno).
73 percent are planning a holiday
When asked about travel intentions, 72 percent of respondents across Europe said they were planning a short trip abroad in the autumn or winter. This is 55 percent more than the previous year. But money is no longer as loose as it used to be: 70 percent of survey respondents said they want to save more money during their travels than they did the previous year.
And it is known that the expectation is the greatest: 40 percent of respondents have already started planning their holidays for next summer. According to the survey, 63 percent of those planning their holidays are even considering using artificial intelligence tools to make decisions.
