Milk producers see the main reason for the decrease in production costs, which increased due to the effects of war, inflation and the epidemic. Moreover, Reto Burkhart, head of communication of the Swiss milk producers (SMP) with LID, announced that the 2022 feeding year is bad.

But fewer dairy cows does not mean less milk. According to SMP figures, despite the significant decline in cows, milk production in the first half of the year was actually slightly higher than the previous year. This is due to increases in efficiency, for example through robot stables.
