Comedian and entrepreneur Zeki Bulgurcu (33) says in his post on LinkedIn: “This is how I created 500 comments for our job application.” In it, she explains how she wants to get more ratings through a contest in her community.
The point is: in order to earn 500 francs, you had to download the Jobshot job board app and give it five stars, no matter what you really thought of the app. However, “manipulation of customer ratings” is not allowed in the AppStore and may result in app deletion. While Zeki is proud and bragging about the campaign on LinkedIn, his post is full of criticism.
“They are cheating the consumer”
Many users wonder why Zeki brags about such an action. “This post is a great guide on how to destroy your credibility as quickly as possible,” writes one user. Others find this behavior “stupid”, one finds language too direct and says: “You are a complete clown”.
Digital marketing expert Thomas Hutter (47) also thinks the action was wrong: “This is a terrible situation for the consumer,” he tells Blick. This is unfair to the people who download the app and the companies that advertise it. “I find it quite pathetic that you have to deliberately deceive people in order to be more successful.”
Clever crawls back.
The case is also sensitive from a legal point of view. “Forgery of ratings is strictly prohibited in Apple and Google stores,” says the digital expert. Apple is even threatening to ban apps that mimic user ratings on its website.
Jobshot’s request remains unanswered for now. When Blick asks Zeki, he reports on LinkedIn and responds: “Entrepreneurship is difficult. Still, that wasn’t true, and I apologize for the way it was done.” The entrepreneur gave himself “just one star” for this campaign.
Zeki also added the following sentence to the original post: “500x sorry and 1 star for me.”
