Swiss hotels recorded more overnight stays. The picture is the luxurious St. Moritz town (archive image).

This was announced by the Federal Statistics Office (BFS) on Monday. Recovery continues to be driven by foreign tourists.

In June, these provided almost 23 percent more overnight stays than in the same month last year. For the Swiss guests, the result was slightly worse. It was minus 4.2 percent.

The Swiss hotel industry thus follows a record course in the first half of the year. From January to May, overnight stays increased significantly, almost 15 percent from the previous year. But this also meant a 3.5 percent increase over comparable months from 2019, the record and last year before Corona.

BFS will then release more information on hotel overnight stays as well as exact and absolute figures for overnight stays in June and in the first half of the year on August 4.
