Tech billionaire Elon Musk has big ambitions for his company to develop artificial intelligence: “He must understand the true nature of the universe.” Musk announced the goal at the company’s official launch, called xAI, on Wednesday. (archive image)

The company’s founding became known months ago – Musk begged for a six-month hiatus from AI development, possibly citing uncontrollable security risks.

The enterprising businessman was once involved in the creation of the OpenAI startup, which, among other things, developed the popular artificial intelligence chatbot ChatGPT. However, he later fell out with the other founders and became a harsh critic.

ChatGPT can generate human-level sentences and helps trigger the current hype surrounding artificial intelligence. At the same time, however, software that has been trained with massive amounts of data can give completely false information because it essentially predicts word for word how a sentence might go on – and plausibility is sometimes put aside.

The company’s website states that Musk will lead xAI himself. He is already the boss of electric car maker Tesla and space company SpaceX. Musk also ran the tunneling company Boring Company and Neuralink, which wanted to use implants to connect the human brain to computers. He stepped down from his role as head of the Twitter text messaging service, but still plays an important role as owner.

In addition to Musk, eleven who had previously worked at Google, among others, were introduced as xAI’s first employees. (SDA)
